Francis Ward continues to support businesses offloading chemicals with its industry-leading Pressure Bin range. Also known by customers as PCMs, pump overs, pressure vessels, or PTOs, these reusable metallic pressure-discharge IBCs are designed to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability during chemical delivery and offloading operations.

As chemical distributors and industrial suppliers look to reduce offload times while maintaining compliance, Francis Ward Pressure Bins provide a proven solution for controlled, pressurised chemical discharge across a wide range of applications.

Proven safety with faster chemical offloading

All Francis Ward Pressure Bins are UN approved for the transport of dangerous goods and pressure tested to 3 bar, ensuring they can safely withstand repeated pressurisation throughout their service life.

In operation, up to 1,000 litres can be offloaded in approximately 6 minutes at 2 bar, compared with up to 30 minutes using gravity alone. The base-mounted air feed connection improves operator safety and efficiency by removing the need to take the IBC off the trailer when connecting to a vehicle compressor at customer sites.

This faster offload capability supports smaller volume and multi-drop chemical deliveries, offering flexibility for customers unable to accept full tanker loads and helping suppliers improve vehicle and asset utilisation.

Designed for a wide range of chemical products

Francis Ward Pressure Bins are available in stainless steel or mild steel, with a selection of linings, gaskets, and valve configurations to suit a wide variety of chemical products.

They are suitable for use with many hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals, including—but not limited to—products such as sodium hypochlorite, caustic soda, ammonia, hydrochloric acid, and sulphuric acid. Each unit is configured to match the chemical and duty requirements, ensuring safe offloading and long service life.

Supporting compliance and long-term use

To support regulatory compliance and asset integrity, Francis Ward offers 2.5- and 5-year UN recertification, including internal visual inspection reports with photographic evidence. Features such as a replaceable forklift base, colour options, and vinyl graphics further support long-term use and fleet identification.

For best-practice guidance on safe chemical offloading and compatibility, customers can refer to the Francis Ward IBC Utilisation Guide.

For businesses involved in chemical delivery, distribution, and offloading, Francis Ward Pressure Bins provide a reliable, efficient, and proven solution.

Francis Ward Ltd. was pleased to exhibit at the PPMA Show at the NEC Birmingham, one of the UK’s leading exhibitions for the processing, packaging, and automation sectors, with a strong focus on solutions for the food manufacturing industry.

The PPMA Show provided an ideal platform to engage with food and beverage manufacturers looking to improve safety, hygiene, and efficiency in the handling of ingredients and raw materials. Throughout the event, the Francis Ward team welcomed visitors to the stand to discuss the challenges associated with storing, handling, and discharging dried and powdered food ingredients within regulated production environments.

A key highlight of the exhibition was the presentation of Francis Ward’s cone-based IBC for dried goods, designed to support controlled, efficient product discharge while helping manufacturers maintain high standards of hygiene and contamination control. The cone-based design enables reliable material flow and minimises product retention, making it well suited to food production processes where consistency and cleanliness are critical.

Visitors also had the opportunity to explore how Francis Ward’s containment solutions support compliance with food safety standards while improving operational efficiency across a range of applications, from ingredient handling to process integration.

The team valued the opportunity to speak with both existing customers and new contacts, exchanging insights on industry challenges, evolving regulations, and best practice in food manufacturing environments.

We would like to thank everyone who visited the Francis Ward stand at PPMA. If you were unable to attend the show but would like to learn more about our cone-based IBCs or other food industry containment solutions, our team would be happy to help.
